Exchange expected

Exchange is 2-1 favourite and shows a lovely relaxed attitude in the paddock and going to post. Connections report he took time for the penny to drop on debut and then got tired late but has improved in his work since and is expected to run well.

Bell hopes

Screenprint is first to post and trainer Micheal Bell says: "Hopefully he will show that he has come on from his first run at Yarmouth as he appears to have done in his home work. We feel that although still quite green and a little bit on the weak side, he has the makings of a nice horse."

Mark this

Markhesa is proving mulish to post and has to be led the final steps to the stalls by a handler.

More Clearing House money

Clearing House was nibbled at this morning and on course is in to 8-1 from 14-1. Maybe I Wont looked best in condition in the paddock and is popular at 9-2 from 11-2.

Hot Rogers

Apologies to James Rogers, who on checking rode a winner four days ago and has at least eight wins under his belt.

No Fox

Kieren Fox has failed to make it to ride Markhesa, a bit of a blow for supporters as he is an in-fomr apprentice and his place on the Epsom-trained filly is taken by James Rogers (7).

Top owner

Coral PR guru Simon Clare has been on duty at Goodwood but has made the dash here to watch new acquisition Illuminative, in whom he has a leg, even though he is a rank outsider.

Rosy optimism

So how about this gamble on Rosy Dawn in the first. Over to trainer John Bridger, who says: ""it's frightening me to death! But she is a very game mare and will just keep galloping, so I suppose people lookat some of the others and wonder about their resolution. Anyhow, she is very well and will like the track and will stay."

Bridger felt Edgeworth might be the danger and he can be a frontrunner but theword is that he might drop in here.

Hills and Victor Chandler are 9-2 from 10-1 and 12-1 respectively.Clearing House is still popular, 12-1 from 25-1 Skybet and 12-1 from 16-1 Blue Square.

There is general shortening in the 8.10 with the non-runner but Mandhooma is still strong 7-1 from 14-1 Chandlers, from 12-1 Ladbrokes, 8-1 from 14-1 Corals and StanJames. Spinning Bailiwick is also stronger than expected into around 5-1 generally
